@Mario

Thanks for the kind comments. Don't be put off by the amount of software/hardware listed here, much of it is optional and the tools you use are likely to differ based on what you have access to and what you are comfortable with.

Star Fusion took about 2 months to develop but prior to that I spent around 3 months getting to grips with Xcode and the iPhone SDK.

The only costs were those mentioned in this post + the development time.

I'd recommend you take a look at this post if you are looking for a slightly more verbose look at beginning iPhone game development.

Good luck.

VERY helpful!
I never thought that this many things are needed to create a iPhone game, I have some ideas myself and a mac and I could get everything that you used but how do I know when and where to start? How long did it take you to build your game and how much work did you put into it?? It already scares me seeing how many different things were used to create a game, your blog is very helpful but would you be kind to add some more info, e.g. brief development timeline, total spent on this app... THANKS ALLOT!
Can't wait till your app is out, I've put this as a bookmark.

It looks great. One thing that might be cool is to leave completed tasks in the task area with a check or something, that would make it easier to track progress.

@Jey - I've never thought about the tweaking and tuning before. I suppose that is one of the reasons I enjoy cooking and baking.

Good to hear some first hand experience of the Aeropress, I'm definitely intrigued enough to give it a go.

@Erick - Thanks, glad you enjoyed the post. Sorry to hear about the gastritis but a good tip all the same.

@Luke - Yes, I believe we've had a few coffee related conversations on twitter.

Regarding the cafetiere - make sure you're beans are fresh and grind them just before use. I usually produce a grind with a consistency similar to fine sand but it should certainly be coarser than that used for Espresso.

Warm the cafetiere with some hot water before you use it.

The rest is just the same basic steps you know - 1 tablespoon of coffee per cup and a brew time of around 4 minutes.

Personally I find cafetiere coffee a little weak and insipid anyway - Maybe you should consider the Aeropress, especially if you're going to the trouble of grinding your own bean already.

A man after my own heart! I utilise coffee breaks in exactly the same way, although I haven't moved on to espresso machines yet. My cafetiere does a good job, although since I've been grinding myself it's tasted a little bland. Maybe I'm not getting the grind size right. Any advice?
